At Davis Bay, the Sunshine Coast Highway drops down to the water, offering a stunning view out over Georgia Strait to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Take a stroll (or a roll) along the wheelchair-accessible seawall walking path, enjoy a gelato at Pier 17 market, or shop for antiques and treasures at the Mosaic Market. Or enjoy fish and chips from the Beach Buoy outdoor deck.
Davis Bay Pier Davis Bay has plenty of free streetside parking, and at low tide a sandy beach is great for swimming or building sandcastles. A yearly sandcastle competition is held here, as well as the New Year's Day Polar Bear Swim. Just south of Davis Bay lies Wilson Creek, with a grocery store, car dealership, Canadian Tire and other shops, including a coffee house, video store and take-out pizza. Visit the Chapman Creek Salmon Hatchery, which is just a short side trip up Field Road. This volunteer-run hatchery offers free tours. On the way, stop by a glass artisan located just behind the Wilson Creek Shopping Plaza. The Sechelt airport is located further up Field Road.
Wilson Creek Waterfront Just north of Davis Bay lies Selma Park, a residential neighbourhood, adjacent to Sechelt. |
